Sedgwick County Memorial Hospital was built in 1950 and is licensed as a 25-bed Critical Access Hospital, which includes swing beds and is accredited by the Colorado Department of Health. The Health Center is a County owned organization that receives financial support through a tax subsidy. Sedgwick County Health Center has recently been completely renovated and additions have been made to the hospital.
The Health Center serves a population of approximately 6,000 and offers general acute care services including obstetrics, general medicine, surgery, emergency medicine (Trauma IV designated), physical therapy, respiratory care, a special care unit with cardiologist consults and EKG over reads, pediatrics and cardiopulmonary services. A variety of on-site diagnostic services are available including: hematology, clinical chemistry, immunohematology, diagnostic radiology, EKG services, mammography, ultrasound, treadmills, permanent on site CT and Ultrasound Units, mobile MRI, Dexa Scan, and Holter monitoring. The hospital also offers a Fitness Center, and Chemotherapy Admin Suite.
When fully staffed Valley Medical Clinic has a medical staff consisting of 3 full-time MD’s, 2 part-time MD’s, 1 full-time certified physician’s assistant, and 1 part-time certified physician’s assistant. In addition, the hospital has a complete compliment of specialty, consulting, and courtesy physicians. Specialty clinics include: Cardiology, Podiatry, Ophthalmology, Orthopedics, Neurology, Otolaryngology, and Urology services. Valley Medical Clinic also operates a clinic in Big Springs, NE that is open four days per week.
Community Education Courses that are offered through the hospital include CPR classes.
